United Health Centers of the San Joaquin Valley, Inc. (“UHC”) located in the San Joaquin Valley, California, is a multi-location Community Health Center, consisting of primary care physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurse midwifes (and other licensed medical providers). UHC is committed to a pro-active approach to comply with Federal, California, and local laws. To meet this commitment and to help our employees understand our expectations, UHC has set forth the following Compliance Program. The Standards of Conduct referenced in this Compliance Program shall govern all of UHC’s board members, administrative and professional personnel (“Employees”) in the manner in which UHC’s business is conducted.
UHC recognizes that to earn and maintain a reputation for integrity, it must encompass more than compliance with laws, regulations, and contractual obligations. Even the appearance of misconduct or impropriety can be damaging to this reputation. Frequently, business activities are not subject to specific laws. In these instances, each Employee shall conduct UHC’s business transactions with the utmost honesty, accuracy, fairness, and respect for others. No unethical practice can be resorted to on the grounds that it is “customary” or that it serves other worthy goals. Convenience and money should never compromise integrity.
While all UHC Employees are obligated to follow our Compliance Program, we expect our leaders to set the example, to be in every respect a model. They must ensure that those they are responsible for, as well as their peers, have sufficient information to comply with law, regulation, and policy, as well as the resources to resolve ethical dilemmas. They must help to create a culture within UHC which promotes the highest standards of ethics and compliance. This culture must encourage all Employees to voice concerns whenever they arise. UHC and its Employees must never sacrifice ethical and compliant behavior in the pursuit of business objectives.
